MH:2K, Leaders Unlocked

Winter 2017

MH:2K: a youth-led programme identifying the most important mental health challenges facing young people in Oldham. A powerful group of 14-25 year olds delivered 41 workshops in education and community settings. We engaged with over 600 other young people about pressures, their understanding of mental ill-heath and ideas for change. The team then worked with key local decision-makers and published a report making recommendations for change. I was the main point of contact and support for our diverse team of young people and also responsible for managing event bookings, delivery schedule, project budget, collection of research data and creating content for the workshops.

Dance United Yorkshire
Dewsbury, Keighley, Bradford

2015 - 2017

Delivering bespoke dance projects that engage young people who are NEET, under Youth Offending Teams, within Pupil Referral Units, identified by Families First teams or at risk of child sexual exploitation. The projects give vulnerable young people a chance to be free of labels, learn new practical skills, complete an Arts Award and perform a new piece of choreography in a professional theatre. On projects the group eat and train together everyday, we also work closely with support workers to address any challenging behavior and nurture every young person that is involved.
